ASCAP is the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), a membership association of more than 460,000 US composers, songwriters, lyricists and music publishers of every kind of music. Through agreements with affiliated international societies, ASCAP represent hundreds of thousands of music creators worldwide. We are the only US performing rights organization created and controlled by composers, songwriters and music publishers, with a Board of Directors elected by and from our membership.
BroadwayDemo believes in the rights of creative people and that artists should be compensated for their work. We therefore have licensing agreements with ASCAP and BM which authorize us to make available over the internet copyrighted music from their catalogs. The vast majority of composers and lyricists are members of these royalty collecting agencies, but not all of them are. If you have reason to believe that a song on BroadwayDemo is not covered under these licenses, please contact us with the relevant title(s).
Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) collects license fees on behalf of the more than 600,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers it represents and distributes those fees as royalties to members whose works have been publicly performed.
