Emily Herring was most recently seen inthe title role of Always...Patsy Cline at theVirginia Samford Theatre in Birmingham.She has appeared in the national tours ofRagtime (Mother), Kiss Me, Kate (Kate), andThe Sound of Music (Mother Abbess). Regionaltheatre credits include Secret Garden (Lily),A Little Night Music (Anne), Smoke on theMountain (Vera), Godspell (Joanne), Into theWoods (Cinderella), Songs for A New World(Featured Singer), and Iolanthe (Phyllis). Shehas taught voice at Birmingham SouthernCollege, “Rosie’s Broadway Kids” and theAmerican Musical and Dramatic Academyin New York City, and at her private studio.She is active as a concert and cabaret artistthroughout the Southeast, and also enjoyssinging with big bands (Just Friends, The JoeGiattina Orchestra, and Celebration Winds) andat local charity events. A Mobile native, Emilyholds degrees in Vocal Performance, from theUniversity of Southern Mississippi, and theUniversity of Tennessee, and is a student ofthe legendary Marni Nixon. She is a memberof Actor’s Equity and the National Associationof Teacher’s of Singing. Ms. Herring serves asAssistant Professor in Musical Theatre Voice inthe Department of Theatre and Dance at theUniversity of Alabama.
